“Dr. Igor Belyansky is a nationally and internationally recognized expert in abdominal wall reconstruction and complex hernia surgery. He serves as Chief of the Division of General Surgery and Director of the Abdominal Wall Reconstruction Program and Fellowship at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, Maryland. His practice focuses on complex open abdominal wall reconstruction with referrals from across the East Coast, as well as advanced minimally invasive and robotic techniques when appropriate.
Dr. Belyansky has authored more than 45 peer-reviewed publications, 15 book chapters, and numerous invited commentaries. He has described and published novel laparoscopic and robotic abdominal wall reconstructive techniques that are now widely adopted by hernia surgeons worldwide. A strong proponent of robotic technology, his research and clinical work emphasize innovation, outcomes, and the thoughtful integration of advanced surgical platforms.
He completed his fellowship training at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina, and his residency at Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. He earned his medical degree from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine and completed his undergraduate education at the University of Maryland, College Park. Dr. Belyansky regularly lectures nationally and internationally, trains residents and fellows, and hosts visiting surgeons seeking advanced experience in abdominal wall reconstruction.”
